had training at NTU this morning, was pretty fun cuase it's a change of environment, though it was pretty hot by the time we got there.
the NTU team were swimming in a pool that didnt have lane ropes, so they claimed that they were in the danger of crashing into each other (it actually happened!) honestly i have no idea how they do that, and the team went on to swim in our usual manner, with a good level of lane discipline, though there were a few times we did come close. (it can be done!)
my arms were still feeling the strain from yesterday's swim, and they felt like lead during the 800m warm up. but after the 6 x 25m sprints, i think they kinda loosened up. after which we did a 1000m swim plus 5k run along the NIE bi run route. started off a bit fast on the swim, though once i got into the rythme it was much better. finished the swim at bout 16 mins and did a the transition and ran off chasing nicolas. i ended up only putting on a top cause my tights would be too tight to put onto wet legs (besides, i would get a disgusting tan line) hence i ran round ntu in my trunks. hope no one caught me on camera. i had bout a min lead on josh from the swim, which he easily overcame at bout the 1-2km mark. from then on it was chasing all the way.
funny thing was bout halfway through josh nic and i saw jason, norman and zhenghong in front. at first we thought they were the NTU team, but their outifts were too familiar. turns out those 3 took a wrong turn and made a shortcut! ahhhh! so i chase and chase and chase (was not in good running shape today, probably tired) . finished the run in bout 21-22 mins. man was it hot!
took photo with the NTU team, kinda amusing, guess cause it was the first time i met one of our other competitors (besides SMU at tanjong beach). they seem friendly enough. guess one of the best thing about this sport is that even not matter how fierce the competition can be, there is mutual respect and fiendliness among the particiapants because we all know how painful it can get, and everyone has already put in their best effort. and when one does that, one deserves respect.
NTU on the left, NUS on the right. Captains in front!
Sing Bi in 9 days! cant wait!
